I think it has to do with effort vs. result.

The conservative "dream" of owning a house, having your own business, looking after yourself with independence sounds good but to quote the orange man, doesn't work.

With others studying or building corporate careers from their taxes and parents of rich kids with trust funds helping them to buy homes the average white young men know the deck is stacked against them.

Now I believe staying on this course would've paid off in the end but they haven't seen results in 10 years of MAGA so they don't think it'll happen. The socialists will gladly take advantage of their feelings to continue their agenda and at this point they don't care if Elon is put in jail and they take all his money to cover their healthcare bills.

Also, that's on them if they believed Trump was for any of that when he has spent all his time talking about the need to raise costs and taxes for Americans, rolling back the economy to a time when fewer had opportunity all while focusing the state more on wasting the increased taxes on things nobody wants and increasing inflation.
