Quote:Reporter: "Attorney General, on your Facebook page three days ago, you wrote, ‘What this young woman has been forced to endure is horrific and unacceptable. I'm holding her in my heart and in my prayers. To her and to all survivors, you're not alone. We stand with you.’ Why did you affirm her allegations as fact without doing your own fact-finding investigation? And to the governor, why did you appoint an official who made a public statement affirming those allegations as fact as someone who's supposed to be doing an investigation?”

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D): “I will answer that. I have every confidence in our Attorney General to do what she has always done. Look at the facts, examine the record, and draw the proper conclusions. That's exactly what's going to happen in this case. Attorney General, please.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James: “I will not comment on a Facebook post.”

Being like "I wont comment on a facebook post (that I made)" is just very funny.

I hate this kind of "reporting" even when the target probably deserves it:
https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-rufo-known-for-dei-and-crt-panics-tries-to-make-the-indian-question-a-thing wrote:That Keeperman, like Rufo, is so steeped in far-right and white nationalist spaces online, makes it all the more disturbing and odious that they named Episode 86 of “Rufo & Lomez” the “Indian Question.” The possible reference is striking.

Over 80 years ago, on January 20, 1942, SS General Reinhard Heydrich convened a gathering of 15 high-ranking Nazi officials at a villa in Wannsee, Germany to discuss “Endlösung der Judenfrage,” or “The Final Solution to the Jewish Question.”

“The Jewish Question” — or “The JQ,” as modern white nationalists frequently call it — is the antisemitic worldview framing the very existence of Jewish people as a problem in need of solving. It’s one of history’s most infamous rhetorical devices; three words that instantly dehumanized an entire subgroup of people, helping provide the permission structure for genocide. Heydrich’s 1942 conference, after all, was where Nazi leadership discussed the nuts-and-bolts of implementing their answer to the “question”: extermination.

That Keeperman and Rufo chose the phrase “the Indian Question” for this discussion reads as a deliberate, trollish nod to the “JQ” — a kind of shitpost meant to “trigger” the left, including reporters at places like Talking Points Memo, into hysterically comparing them to Nazis. The duo does not go as far to call for the extermination or genocide of people with Indian heritage in America, even if they do advocate policies of exclusion and expulsion that scholars have long noted can be precursors to even greater atrocities.
Except if you actually were knowledgeable about history you would know that "the Jewish question" was a debate for centuries in Europe after Britain allowed Jews to become citizens. And it was in this context that Marx used it nearly a century before Heydrich: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Jewish_Question

In the context of the conversation as reported by TPM, it's actually the same exact context that Rufo and the weirdo are using it about Indians. That's not great, but these are anti-immigrant conservatives and they aren't going to take the other side, but that doesn't make it Nazism. You introduced the Nazis and claimed it was a reference to the Nazis because you're the ignorant one about the historical context of the very famous phrase. Rage

And additionally it's not even specifically something used regarding Jews and only Jews, there have been countless "questions" of this type, especially in that same era: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_question

Quote:We have received many heartfelt and concerned messages from members of our community regarding a video circulated on social media showing our new Executive Director, who is white, wearing cornrows at a recent BROS public event. We share the weight of these concerns and take this matter seriously, and the Board has been in continuous conversation about them since Monday morning.
We regret removing the video without an explanation and take responsibility for the confusion that caused. More importantly, we are taking action.
We are revising our Anti-Discrimination Policy to more clearly address cultural representation and dress, enforcing anti-racism leadership training, and are forming a working group for Culture, Community Voice, and Racial Equity (working title). The mission of this group will focus on initiatives and systemic changes
None of this actually means anything. "We share the weight of these concerns" like what do you mean? What is this weight of concerns about a woman wearing cornrows? Swap some nouns around and you can use this apology for every possible scenario. This stuff has become purely by playbook.

The world is just completely bonkers right now. Down is up. Up is down. Nothing makes any sense but for some magical reason poverty and unemployment are at all time lows.
