This still throws me for a loop.

The 2009 Raven Software game was good for a licensed movie game, was also very violent, and I don't remember all this pearl clutching from the playerbase. The current brand of neo-puritan fucks are horrible.

Also, I'm sad Raven Software are locked in the Call of Duty mines now. X-Men Legends, Soldier of Fortune, Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy games were great in the early 2000s. 

I'm no prude but jesus christ the level of casual violence on display here is so off-putting. After leaping off a roof to knife a dude in the back, our hero immediately disembowels a screaming woman before stabbing her through the face.

I remember when AssCreed Syndicate added women NPCs to the antagonist templar gangs and was told it was good because equality or something and women are just as capable of being evil henchmen as men. You could do over-the-top kill animations and put a blade into the heart/face/chest of female NPCs now too instead of exclusively males. Ok, fine. Now we've looped back around to "Why are we glorifying violence against women?"

If I'm not allowed to disembowel an EVIL screaming woman, what is even the point of waking up in the morning?

Her proportions feel somehow even less believable than some of the older games, because she isn't nearly well built enough to be doing the stuff she is, and juxtaposed with the higher level of detail in the world and characters, it just feels weird and uncanny. Her winter outfit is probably even worse, with the way it's somehow skintight and perfectly molded to accentuate her butt.

I don't mind changing her face and stuff, but I much preferred her last appearance in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. My complaints about that game being super colonialist and white saviour aside, her design was a really good evolution and finally felt at least a bit more plausible for the type of physical activity she was doing… I mean in real life she'd be completely jacked, but at least she was no longer totally rail-thin. What we have in the new game feels like a pretty big regression.

It’s somewhat detrimental. Even if they have zero experience with fitness, nerds should understand min-maxing. Powerlifters, bodybuilders, climbers, gymnasts, marathon runners, different varieties of fighters, etc all have different body types to specialize.

At least some people are honest that it is just a fetish for women with huge delts.

So many people associate aesthetics with skill. Even in our analytics-driven world, pro sports scouts can fall in love with a player's measurables and rely on the old eyeball test too much. 

For actual performance, extra muscle mass/hypertrophy is in numerous cases a hindrance, especially in endurance sports. What is the tangible benefit of carrying around an extra 15-20 pounds of muscle on an ultramarathon or when free climbing a steep mountainside?

Piled on for telling the truth. Insomniac is praised for their speedy development process, but that comes at the cost of all their games being more or less the same thing. Wolverine is just Spider-Man combat without the mobility and with blood. 

The “gameplay” showed off yesterday looks anemic.
