The genocide in Gaza has produced another wave of extremism that will be hard to put back in the bottle. 

I don't know who did this. What I do know is the far right has been increasingly prevalent in raising the violence level in our culture and agitating for much looser gun laws, both of which contribute to the likelihood of this type of incident. Thus, this reinforces to me that they need to be countered more effectively, whether there was any direct involvement or not.

This is hauntingly familiar. About a decade ago, my brother (who was deep in a hole of mental health and drug abuse issues at the time) got into a huge fight with my dad. A few days later, I got a call from one of my brother's former best friends letting me know that my brother bought a gun and was planning to kill my parents. Since I lived on the other side of the country, one of our mutuals was able to distract him long enough for me to notify my family and the police, and they were able to find the gun stashed in an AC vent in our house, dispose of it and get him locked up on a psych hold, but if my brother's friend hadn't had the presence of mind to warn me my whole family would be dead today.
