And why the FUCK would people even be upset that someone points out Sweet Baby is a DEI consolation firm, when Sweet Baby themselves have literally described their main purpose is to foster Diversity Equality and Inclusion?

That's generally a bit of a paradox with DEI. They demand that companies embrace DEI for more diversity but at the same time will claim that none of the diversity that ends up in the game has anything to do with the DEI consultation companies.

Sweet Baby Inc's job is at most rubber stamping that there isn't shit like this in a game so the publisher doesn't get hit with controversies that might hit their bottom line

 

Their job is not, in fact, "sneaking" a bisexual transgender woman into videogames

But that didn’t affect Eidos/Square bottom line. People liked the game. The game sold well enough to get a sequel. People mocked the scene but moved on. 

Obviously, doesn’t mean this is excusable… but you didn’t need to pay a consultant to say that to you. It was not a bunch of Japanese devs being clueless about race issues but a Canadian studio.  

Someone should have detected that scene, but is so inconsequential that nobody cared in the long run beyond the easily offended. People liked the game and were able to tolerate a misguided character interaction.  

Is essentially what that dude was discussing, that there is people more concerned about whatever a game is politically correct or not than having a genuine conversation about games.
