I think a few things really need to happen:

This is my day job fyi, as an expert in radical political groups and misinformation, which is why I spent one day recently writing a bunch of posts about how a jeans ad was part of an obvious literal white supremacist conspiracy to promote eugenics because I think eugenics is whenever you mention genetics. Left-wingers simply never put stupid things on the internet and agree completely on everything like whether or not you should organize and vote against Trump, if Johnny Depp was part of a fascist conspiracy and a rigged trial, if social media should be age-gated for children or if the war in Ukraine is justified to stop American imperialism.

I've seen all of two stories, both from former high school people who knew him four years ago, claiming he was more liberal. Everything else points the other direction, including his family.

As for Obama and Bernie, I don't think they're like card-carrying KKK members. But I do think that they are beholden to norms of decorum that are undermined by the foundation and engine of violence that keep America functioning, of which white supremacy is inextricably tied to. Saying "violence is not acceptable" is a lie. It is acceptable. It is why this country exists and it's why it maintains its position on the world stage. America is not only internally violent but exports violence worldwide in spades whether we're talking about our coups or even just our violent media; pacifism as a principle in the context of American politicking then is fundamentally absurd under a material lens. They should be more specific and honest then and say that Kirk's overt white supremacy should not have been met with a bullet to the neck, which in turn is also absurd given not just facile refutations of overt white supremacy in our media landscape where "punching/killing Nazis" is acceptable visage, but it's also absurd given what minorities have historically had to do to survive their colonization.

So while Democrats may not necessarily be Nazis (although honestly, lol, they'll bolster police and forces like ICE to jail and kill more Black and Brown people in a heartbeat), they support the conditions that allow Nazism to thrive, hence why I say this should be the moment for people to adjust accordingly.

I've watched this thread for a while and thought I shouldn't respond because I was too emotional about how major media outlets and entities were responding to it, but I've decided that America really has so thoroughly indicted itself as a rotted to the core husky of a country that I'm both infuriated and legitimately saddened. We should be better and the standard for human decency, media literacy and critical thinking should be infinitely higher, but we essentially let social media and bigotry toxify our entire culture. It's demoralizing seeing something like a moment if silence for someone who thought black people, transgender people and any marginalized group were subhuman.

Just say it nicely enough and that's enough to convince low information, low education, terminally online people that you're worth respecting. It's almost a cheat code if you're a white male racist. It's both chilling in a deeply scary way and surreal in how widespread it is. I see it happening and look at the examples people pull in from other sources here, but I'm still entirely shocked by how this is the person that has the pull to make people feel appalled that others disliked them and didn't feel remorse over their death.

I need to get off Era for a bit and decompress. It's just debilitating thinking about the meaning of how so many Americans and huge entities are lionizing him. He'd never do the same to anyone not exactly like him.
