Who is "they," the mods? The general US politics thread as we know it was rebooted with their guidance almost a year ago (yes, this thread that we're posting in right now is from August). Genuine "new news, new thread" examples notwithstanding, I would assume they'd prefer to have a singular thread/handful of mothership threads to hold most of the discussion as a means to avoid clutter.

Inspired by the recent favourite creepypasta thread... So... You're now being stalked by a supernatural/evil/alien in an isolated area (woods, abandoned place etc)... WHAT HAPPENS!?!?!?

The default example:
You've been contacted by a childhood friend, one you haven't seen in years, they now live alone in the countryside and wanted you to come over one weekend. They were acting a bit odd and eccentric on the Bluesky chat but you agree. On one Friday afternoon/evening, you travel to their house in the woods, stopping along the way to get supplies at a petrol station and being told to go back from where you came from by the locals but you ignore them.

Once your there, you pass the gate and take the small walk down the dirt road to their house, never being able to get rid of the feeling that you were being watched from the darkness from nearby large woods that go on for kilometres. You notice the house is oddly empty, dust everywhere, food rotting in the fridge, signs of animals living in the place, including some that seem to have been partially eaten. The only sign of someone living there is the still turned on old computer (with a dead battery, only on because it's connected to the plug) with their social medias (Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky etc) on; and notice over the past few years, they invited other old childhood friends to visit them, ones you notice never updated their social medias afterwards. All this time, you still feel you're being watched from the shadows and darkness, you find areas that seem to have old and fresh saliva on them and eventually the power goes out as the sun is about to set fully.

You try to walk back and notice you have no signal to your phone and some has bolted the the gate shut and locked it; the walls too tall and sharp to climb. It's then you realize you're being stalked by something; something that can be deadly fast if it wants, messing with you, trying to lure you, seems to vanish down large holes and makes fake calls for help and other voice mimicry; trying to make you go where they want you to go. Something that looks like your friend but emotionless, their mouth wide and forced open, their eyes blank and dead, their limps long and distorted and (CW: Gross and dark)

if they get you cornered and close enough a "humanoid" multi-limbed creature that is a mixture of a parasitic flatworm, a leech and a naked mole-rat forces itself out of the friend's mouth, their maw distorted with dozens of rows of human teeth and a very long tongue, rough like a cat that licks everything and you, wanting to eat you. You may also find their den in the wood with the partial buried bone remains of your friends.

Your only hope is somehow get back to the car and escape or survive the night, the sunlight your only protection.

None of those posts "failed to read" despite the banner plastered on them. And the banners are still up so those bans are still all on the record (as of me typing this at least).

At this point it's becoming very clear to me that you simply refuse to admit having been wrong and having gone on a hasty ban spree. There are multiple members of staff who have straight up said to me that they don't engage in political discussion on this forum anymore because it will just lead to them getting attacked, dogpiled, and accused of bigotry. Which literally happened to me last week when I tried telling people to stop looking for a deeper explanation in someone saying something bigoted, apparently that, believing that a bigot said something just to be a bigot, also makes me a bigot.

as a member of staff you shouldn't, especially when the implication is that disagreeing with you (staff) is bad and possibly bannable. You're a privileged person in your community and should be focused more on nurturing and fostering a better environment instead of actively participating.

It's frustrating to see so many people in this thread go "probably no dev kits", when we KNOW that all the major publishers (Bandai Namco, Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, Sega) had them for a long time, hence why they already announced some games. The issue is why they won't announce NEW games for Switch 2 when they're announcing them for all the other systems. And with some rare exceptions (the new Digimon-game MIGHT be a held-back announcement after all), these are just non-sensical, anti-business decisions from these publishers. And just to preempt this: NOBODY ever said "we're making enough money, we're good" when it'd be so easy to just put most of these games on Switch 2. The Hero Academia-game is especially baffeling, considering the first game sold best on Switch 1.

The Switch 2 is a proven system, we shouldn't have to wait 2-3 years before 3rd-parties get proper support going. From a personal pov, I don't care, I'll buy my games elsewhere and most of these 3rd-party games don't interest me anyway. From a sales-age pov, however, it's frustrating how higher-ups allow their personal bias to sabotage a market that could truly flourish. Imagine being a Japanese kid, loving the My Hero Academia-anime, and not being able to play it on THE go-to-system. That's just bs. Japanese 3rd-parties are currently trying their hardest to lose the 2nd generation of young Japanese gamers in a row, another generation that will grow up knowing only the games that are available on Switch 2. You'd think that'd make them want to put their games on that system.

Additionally, if it's a pattern of behavior as you've indicated, shouldn't the banner accurately reflect this? The lack of accuracy regarding the banners is also an issue in regards to the aforementioned bans in the DK thread. I noted this before, even. Others above me also have pointed it out. Transparency is the whole point of the banner system, and part of why we're here now is precisely because of what Morrigan and Ashes of Dreams described above.

And... honestly... this really ties into what Ashes of Dreams has been talking about. This constant assuming the worst, always 100% on guard against users. It makes me wonder... why even bother with immediately banning Kayos in the first place? Was it necessary to jump to such an escalation? And did nobody on staff consider the optics issue that would result from this? Given that there was an ongoing issue already, surely there was another solution for that, right?
