They need to abolish freedom of speech for starters. Freedom of speech doesn't really exist in democracies outside of America, and that's for a reason. It's weaponized to push disinformation and bigotry.

When I mean mess, I mean the easy marks we for racism and grievance politics. It's a multicultural society--Chinese, Malay, and South Asian (Indian/etc). There's extensive public housing and a very good retirement program.

Yes, it's basically one party rule. And like any country, it does have problems. It's also smaller, which makes it easier to govern. But it's also rather rich and has a high standard of living.

With Brexit and now Trump in the US, it just seems we never solved the multicultural angle in these places. That said I'm also aware of the history of white colonialism in these countries, that's a hard nut to crack.

While we were walking to the metro we were joking around and the atmosphere was really nice. Just as I was about to head back, I turned around one more time and looked at her again. I don't know if that was the right thing to do, but I was honestly really impressed by her.

We agreed to meet again in about 10 days. Normally I wouldn't wait that long, but I have an important exam in next week. Two days later I called her and we talked for more than an hour. I genuinely enjoy talking to her and I'd like to spend more time with her. Our plan for Friday is still on.

Now I have a few questions on my mind. I don't want to bring up topics like relationships or marriage this early, but I think she probably realized that I like her. The reason we initially met was actually to talk about possibly working on a project together. But we decided to drop that idea because she said her new job will be very busy and I probably wouldn't be able to find something suitable for her in the project. Even though the project idea is off the table, we're still meeting and talking.

I try not to make my feelings too obvious, but I think she might have noticed anyway.

So on Friday we're basically going on something like a date. It will probably be the first time we can sit somewhere comfortably and talk for a longer time. I'm wondering whether I should invite her for coffee or suggest dinner instead. I'm definitely planning to pay the bill. If she offers to split it, I was thinking about jokingly saying we can celebrate her first paycheck from her new job next time.

Another question I have: should I offer to pick her up and drop her off with my car, or would that be too much for a first date? I'd like to do it, but I also don't want to make her uncomfortable.

Do you think I should just focus on getting to know her better for now, or should I try to make my intentions clearer by asking questions about relationships and long-term goals? What kind of boundaries should the conversation have?

I know it's still very early to say anything serious, but I honestly like her a lot and I would like something to develop between us. I just want to make the right moves and not mess things up. Do you have any advice?
