marsupilami is one of those cartoon properties like the smurfs where a US kid just always knew something was slightly "off" about it and then years later you find out it was european and everything makes sense

like it just suddenly springs up on local media in the 90s, fully formed and without context, and without any hook at all it's just like "he's a furry guy who likes to have fun"   ok?

no insult, I'm sure he's great, just vibes

for us it was a one season disney cartoon show that was briefly everywhere and then gone as suddenly as he appeared

Yeah his origin is in the french comics Robbedoes & Kwabbernoot (sorry this is the dutch title), and he appeared as a guest character there. 

I think they brought him with them from the jungle as well, but I can't be sure, it's been too long. 

He was always a cool fun character, with ADHD tendencies and me having ADHD as a kid made me latch onto this character. 




And he has a fun tail which he can whip into a fist..
