I dont understand why people think we will be able to stop any of this with the tools we had to prevent it from happening in the first place. This was an existential test of our country and we failed.Political dissidents will just simply be jailed if they need to, voting rights will be stripped, voter ID laws will be used.

The huge majority of Americans atm don't feel any kind of imminent personal threat. If you're white and/or straight and cis, and at least meeting water in income, people won't care enough to go out on the streets.
