Bayo is most definitely a "writer's barely disguised fetish" character. Arguably the prime example of the "sexism is over" parody. Like I never bought the idea that her looking at the camera while doing all the fanservice meant "she owns her sexuality" because sexuality is not "how to appeal to the most hetero men possible." Especially because Bayo is very influenced by anime, where she'd be a bog standard fanservice character. I think a lot of people finally realized that thanks to Bayo 3's portrayal of her.

One of their favorite bugbears is the idea that female fanservice in games is only meant to get straight guys horny. Anyone who's ever worked in marketing knows that hot women appeal to pretty much every demographic (including straight women) for various reasons, it's been an advertising trump card since forever.
