When the twitter account was shared here, it immediately kicked off a campaign to get the admin kicked out of this website. It completely derailed the PoliEra thread and I couldn't imagine the furor in the Discord server itself. Whether or not it was the user's intent to harm the admin by sharing those social media posts, it absolutely triggered that campaign in the first place. That is indisputable. Whether it came from the Discord or otherwise, it's clear that publicizing the Twitter account of the admin resulted in the harassment and doxxing.

Why are you only concerned about the "doxxing" and not concerned about the raging anti-semitism?

They take care to avoid injecting themselves into discussions, especially ones they have personal feelings about that would impact impartiality. The alternative will inevitably lead to resentment when lines are crossed that would get regular members banned. The upside of that entire conversation was nonexistent and the ban to Brady ridiculous.

It's okay to make the wrong decision and admit it, even if you meant well and don't understand the pushback. Moderation is tough, and nobody is going to bat a thousand. The job would be a lot less dramatic around here if that was the attitude. I've done it before. You've just got to let singular instances go and not get hung up on them before it turns into a pattern that destroys a community. Know that most people appreciate good moderation. I'm just not really sure how many more times Era can survive the incident> stonewall> resentment> fallout cycle. It has certainly destroyed or gutted a large number of important sub-communities already.

If a staff member was found to be an antisemite or any number of other things that would get a regular member perma banned, I'd hope they'd be asked to step down at a minimum. I do not understand the entire chain of events surrounding this doxxing but it seems like a separate issue to be addressed with PoliEra. Banning the sharing of the Discord until reformed is about the only option that makes sense. The rest is just unenforceable. I understand the instinct to circle the wagons but the sad reality is that it's way too easy for a singular bad actor to get in and create a massive wedge between staff and community. That's what trolls do. Don't feed them.

Sexist designs being part of Vanillaware's DNA isn't an excuse to not call them out for it. And this is a much wider issue with game reviews than just this game.

The point is they aren't gonna change if even you do because they like their characters being a little sexy. They aren't stop just to please people that don't. Its same reason why your not free not buy any of their games if turns you off so much. Otherwise up to personal tolerance for that kind of thing since not exactly a secret. VW games are well liked inspite of their fanservice because their are genuinely solid to phenomenal experiences that trump it.

I feel bad for people who dismiss people own feelings about Atlus and there issues and downplaying them.

Especially when this game is a remake of a game that did have a Female MC Option and is constantly touted as the definative version along with P6 looking to still have no Fem MC.

I'm not dismissing people's feelings, I just can't wrap my head head people skipping a game they clearly want to play over not being able to play as a female MC which was only an option for one version of the game in the first place

and the PSP version is definitely not definitive considering how downgraded the visuals were

It's just the guys running the discord. We refuse to house members who are perfectly ok with people who go to white supremacist websites that are only know to house doxxing materials in an attempt to attack members of this community. They were given more than long enough to make it clear to their community how big a line was crossed and to make it so it never happens again, but they refused. It's not a big ask to draw a line in the sand and say, "Don't do that."
