I can see some differences between him then and Geert Wilders now but had Fortuym had lived longer, his views might have gotten closer to Wilders in some respects. So I don't think a gay PM is really a deal breaker for you. 1 user liked this post: Gameboy Nostalgia

This town worshipped Fortuyn 10 years after his death. Some still do.
I'm conflicted. He predicted a lot of things that happened but overall I don't think he had the nerve to actually do the job. Considering what we now know about Boeing the JSF angle seems more likely to have played a part in his killing or rather lack of security that lead to it. I'm also not sure if he would've actually won. After all the things he predicted would happen took 5 or 10 years to happen. Back then most people didn't yet see those problems in the streets and in their bank accounts and still trusted the government and believed Fortuyn was a Nazi. Overall I was more a fan of his politics than Wilders politics. Wilders fucked up the one chance he had and has no sense of foreign policy like China or Russia beyond Israel. Not even EU politics. I'm not against a gay PM, I'm worried that everything will revolve around that fact much like how Sigrid Kaag and others hid behind their "woman card" when Afghanistan became a clusterfuck. The 10 cities they were going to build are already being walked back as a 'metaphor' for fixing the housing crisis. I know how the media in this country operates. It's loyal to more funding. As someone who has spoken to those involved I already knew they won't build housing. The economics just aren't there to do so. They're planning to build datacenters everywhere with Nvidia. Data storage to replace the gasfield revenues. Datacenters the US government (i.e. Trump) doesn't control. Jenssen Huang came up with this concept of how in the old days each Dutch city/town had a windmill in the future each Dutch city/town will have an AI factory (i.e. datacenter). You don't need 1 big one but 100's of small ones. More difficult to hack too. Pension funds are to be rerouted from safe US investments to EU AI start-up investments. They're turning this whole country into an interconnected datacenter and logistics hub. The only big parties against are Wilders, NSC and Labour/Greens. The latter because of the environmental issues. This election was fixed from the start. 2 users liked this post: Gameboy Nostalgia, Mask

I’m fascinated by Maduro’s approach here.
His response to belligerent US overtures seems mostly to be to act nakedly, existentially fearful in highly public and widely broadcasted settings. 1 user liked this post: Gameboy Nostalgia
