The thing with Sweeney is that for the last decade or so there was a trend of celebrities wearing more and more revealing clothes or just going naked all together while at the same time kind of going "this is for the gals". With Sweeney it's different because she is pretty unashamed and straightforward that "this is for the boys" and that seems to make those other women pretty mad.

(I could have sworn I posted this yesterday but I guess not. If I did, experience my embarrassing alzheimer moment)

Self-sufficient as a toxic trait is a new one.

"toxic" sounds demeaning, but it isn't meant to be insulting!

Anyway, having a stoic personality is evil.

it's actually not...

from the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture:

"rugged individualism"

"self-reliance"

"decision making"

What a wonderful world where self sufficiency is toxic masculinity but not being self sufficient is also toxic male behavior described as "weaponized incompetence"

So what I'm getting is that a non-toxic male should immediately break down emotionally and I guess curl into a ball and wait for a woman. (Not that he should be putting the burden of everything on women, he should just wait to act until hearing their guidance.)

I keep thinking of this one and how it reminds me of the "violence" doublespeak convo from the Forum analysis thread.

DO: check yourself when you think you know it all
DO: focus on impact--the effects on others--rather than intentions

ALSO

DO: make everyone uncomfortable in your brave space
DO: disrupt conversations with courageous statements

Like, isn't one of the primary universal criticisms of men that they are constantly and obnoxiously saying inconvenient, inappropriate, and indelicate things? This advises them to do...less of that? more of that? what's the deal here.

Wrong. A nontoxic male is a woman. Their egg just hasn't cracked yet.
